With the terrace done, we have been able to work on the finishing touches inside the house: the bathroom is almost done now and we can finally start working on the floor tiling in the whole house........Will be a fun couple of hard working days! :)

It has been a busy few weeks, but the results are really showing now, the roof is mostly done and we have been working on the finishing touches inside and out:

We have a terrace now to enjoy the warm Sunny days!

May 2009 Roof Progress

The roof work is almost done, it has been a couple of really hard weeks but the results are worth it!!

The hard work on the roof is still going on, but in the meantime we have finally placed the stairs in the house!

Now it is much easier (and not so scary!) to go up and down....and they look just great!!

April update 3

Most of the south part of the roof is finished ! We will start soon with the windows and finishing up the rooftiling.

Small update, south side of the roof is now being worked on. You can also see the first signs of the road leading up to the house.

Finally the largest part of the house is being renovated, the roof ! see pictures below for a progress update.

  
The roof is coming off ! First work is getting all the old tiles and support beams off, a dirty job as it has the combined dust and dirt of at least 50 years :)

 
First part of the roof is ready, all old material is removed, beams are cleaned and new wooden planks are attached on top of the old beams.

First part of the roof is water proof ! on top of the wooden planks, insulation  (10cm) has been added and a waterproof plastic layer ontop of that. To fix it all on its place small wooden beams have been nailed.

March 2009

There's been some work done and we can really see some big results now:


The walls are starting to take shape and have been covered, it's starting to look more and more like a real home!


The inner brick wall is finished, it is a nice focal point of the farm:




The terrace is also taking shape now, it will be a nice place to sit and enjoy the sun!

Doors

Finally the front door is installed!! There are still several things to do, but it looks already great !!

After the front door was placed, a big hole was made for the new glass doors in the living room, it took some hard work (and prayers!) but everything still stands!

And the result.......looks really great, lots of light coming in and the doors can be opened 180 degrees ! (all the way against the house wall).

BIG

This is our latest buy for the barn ! A big warm cozy fireplace!!

...this will heat the barn during cold and rainy times :)

January 2009, Viva Mexico !

Work has progressed slowly the last month because of the cold weather and the long vacation in Mexico. But we are slowly taking the next steps.



The large window has been installed.


Work on the pipes, electricity and heating is underway.

This is the last work we did in december 2008, the house is really taking shape now.


The original garagedoor is now closed up and the new windows are placed.
